Comments: I decided to do this ride the day before the race. Really isn't a race rather a can you do it? event. I was going to just sign up for the 60 miles but my husband said just sign up for the 100 and when I can pedal no longer, call home and someone will come get you. The first 51 miles were fine. I stopped at all the stops and rested and ate nuts and drank whatever they offered. But from mile 52 to 64 I about died! My legs and hips hurt so bad and the wind started to pick up. When I got to the lunch area I spent half an hour there! After a little food, drink, stretching and a little prayer I was on my again. Felt like I could finish and I did! What would you do differently?: Since I had never ridden over 25 miles before attempting this ride I will definitely do longer rides to prepare. My hand was numb for a week! ![]() Post race
Warm down: none... What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of training Event comments: It was extremely challenging and amazing. I did not realize what I had accomplished until Monday, back at work and someone asked what I did on my weekend and I answered, as if realizing it for the first time that, "I rode my bike 100 friggin miles this weekend!"
