![]() Swim
Comments: Trained alot for the swim. This was my first ever half, so tried not to take it too fast, cause wasn't sure how i would cope with the rest of it. Could push a bit harder next time. There was once where i totally lost where i was, but the buoys were huge, so didn't take long to re navigate. What would you do differently?: Warm up more and acclimatise to the water a bit more. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: overall a good transition! Failry speedy! What would you do differently?: PUt sunscreen on my face...forgot for the whole day...i am like a tomato today! ![]() Bike
Comments: Took a long time to get on the bike at the start. I was annoyed because i forgot to change over my magnet for my cycle computer. I just cruised around, trying not to push to hard. My heart rate was around the 170 mark the whole bike leg. This tell me that i could have pushed harder, but due to my first time i didn't want to push too hard, knowing im not a great runner.... What would you do differently?: need to do more spin classes and more time on the bike! Due to the bad weather in Melbourne this year and other commitments didn't really do many longish rides. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: Took a while with putting on socks etc. Just tried to take a breather before the last leg! What would you do differently?: put sunscreen on my face! ![]() Run
Comments: had a shocker first lap...couldn't find my usual rhythm etc. Didn't feel comfortable at all. On return trip i tried to regain my composure, start to believe in myself. took on some coke/lollies as a bit of a sugar hit. Second lap: goal was to only walk through aid stations to ensure i took on enough fluids etc. Goal achieved! my fastest lap! Third lap: shocker. had a partner and we encouraged one another. and jogged for bits. Goal set was to jog all the way home from the turn around. Goal was achieved. Walked through aid stations as well. once turned that corner and could see the finishing shoot there was no stopping me. What would you do differently?: run more in training without MP3. Also need to do more brick and speed sessions while training. I feel this would have helped in my run leg. Not a strong runner as it is! ![]() Post race
Warm down: lots of stretching, and walking around. What limited your ability to perform faster: My training...should have done more speed rather than long slow distance work. Event comments: The volunteers were amazing! The positiveness they gave you was amazing! Being one of the few left on course they really were supportive and were happy to have a joke with you!
