Swim
Comments: Great swim for my first time in fresh water. Much better than OWS. Glad i didnt have to battle a current What would you do differently?: Swim in my wetsuit more. I always get an anxiety attack right at the start of the swim with the wetsuit. Gotta fix that. Transition 1
Comments: Great transition time considering i had my wetsuit on. What would you do differently?: Take the wetsuit off at the bike instead of right after the swim exit. Bike
Comments: The bike started off.... bad... I borrowed a friends Trek TTX for the race which was way different than my Trek Road bike. Got on the bike and went to turn on the iBike Computer... and.... nothing. No HR, No speed, No cadence. Nothing. I tried for a few more miles to get it to work, but came to reality that it wasnt going to work. So i had nothing to go by except perceived effort. The the double loop had a long straight away with a awesome tailwind. The second i make the left to head south, i dropped the hammer, hunkered down, and pedaled. Some guy passed.paced me for a second and i asked what speed he has, he replied. "28 mph" I smilied and kept pedaling. I love the flatness that is South Florida. We did that lap 1 more time before heading back into some headwinds. Nothing compared the the 40+ mph winds the previous year. On a side note. I dont know how anyone did that course with the wind last year. I did find out later after i finished that someone threw tacks on the road and about 25+ had flat tires. I'm glad i didnt, because i did have the air chuck for my CO2. I did feel bad for the people that did get flats. Some of which i knew. I did hear that they cleaned it up after the RD got work that people were getting flats like crazy. I think even the motorcycle refs were pulling tacks out of their tires. What would you do differently?: Learn how to use my friends computer, or put my own on there. I know the whole mantra of "nothing new on race day" but hey, you live and you learn Transition 2
Comments: Blazed thru transition. The wife almost didnt see me on the run out because she had to sprint from the "bike in to the run exit. Guess it's a good thing What would you do differently?: Keep the same "system" for my transition Run
Comments: Heres where i knew it would be a struggle. Having ran the Marine Corps Marathon 2 weeks prior. i don't think my feet were 100% healed. My goal pace was to go at 9:30. I was acutally doing around 9:15 for the first 4 miles. Then the pain in the feet came back, like i was at mile 24 of the MCM. Right then and there I knew I wasnt going to go under 2 hours for the run. So after some rearranging of my strategy I would run intil it hurts and a lower pace, then walk when the pain came back. Although running on the rocky part of the run near the zoo back gate, i had a fear of twisting my ankle or even rolling it. That would probably be the only gripe around the entire course What would you do differently?: Not run a fricken marathon 2 weeks before a half iron. Duh Post race
Warm down: Water, and a recovery drink. NOT Cytomax. I i never have any of that crap again, i would not be disappointed. Also got some pizza, and some Diet Coke ( i swear diet coke has healing power). What limited your ability to perform faster: My feet. 2 weeks is not enough recovery time for a marathon. For me at least. Event comments: Goal was to finish under 6 hours and i did. Only wish i didn't have a horrible run and was i wasn't in excruciating pain, Great first season and very excited for next year. Last updated: 2010-11-15 12:00 AM

I felt a little outta hte norm staying in hotel, putting all my gear and everything together. Brought my mixer with me to mix my fuel bottle. Ate a Cliff Protein bar, some almonds, and drank some Gatorade.
Set-up transition, looked foor some friends and stretched alot. Prepared myself for the mental toughness I needed for the day. Seeing as how this was my last race of the season, I wanted to leave it all out on the course.
