Swim
Comments: I had a good swim. Felt very comfortable. Managed to pass some people, got passed by some but that's ok, I'm not the strongest swimmer. Didn't get tired, felt like I was navigating and sighting well, enjoyed getting rained on. Overall pretty fun. What would you do differently?: Nothing Transition 1
Comments: My transitions are horrible and with freezing hands and wet shoes and clothes it was even worse. Got suit off ok but couldn't get socks on, had problems with cheap target helmet I bought the night before because I forgot mine. What would you do differently?: Practice transitions and cover up gear if it looks like rain. Bike
Comments: First couple miles were freezing but then started to warm up. Nice hills and turns. Pretty cautious on corners due to wet ground but nothing too scary. I like hills so didn't mind the rollers and the big one was fun. Passed many people on that one only to be passes when we were coming down...need to work on the downhill part of riding. What would you do differently?: Not much, pretty happy with ride. Transition 2
Comments: Once again numb hands and could not get anything on in a quick manner. Couldn't tie my shoes and I had quick laces but didn't bother with them, that will teach me. What would you do differently?: Practice Run
Comments: Feet completely numb first couple miles so felt like I was running like a duck. Passed a bunch of people though and only got passed by one guy in a trail running shirt. Paced pretty consistantly until last mile then tried to kick it out, though not sure if I did...legs were still numb. What would you do differently?: Wasn't a great run but not a bad one either. Post race
Warm down: Got in line for food right away and also got a beer. I think beer at the end should be a law! Waited for tri buddy and split my food and beer (ok went and got another one) with her. She treated us to massages, my first professional massage ever and it was great. What limited your ability to perform faster: The cold and my crappy transitions. Event comments: I like this race. Did it last year as a fluke and talked my pal into doing it with me this year. Will be back next year, earlier so I actually get a place to rack my bike. Last updated: 2010-11-15 12:00 AM

Stayed in Morgan Hill and still managed to not get to race as early as I would have liked. Didn't think about food the night before so stopped at a gas station/mini mart and got horrible sugary cereal in a cup and milk and coffee. Got to race and transitions were pretty full so ended up putting bike along edge which actually worked out pretty good. When I got to transition I noticed front tire a little low so tried to pump up with my little hand pump and managed to lose all the air out of it. Ran to race info booth to ask if they had floor pump and they did not, which was the same as every booth I went to...hello this is a tri, not bike maintenance tools? Anyway, this very nice fellow walked past with a floor pump and I pounced on him and he was great and made sure both front and back tires were perfectly filled, thank you! Of course I took so much time taking care of this that they were starting to call my wave and I still needed to put my wetsuit on...ahhh just like last year. Anyway, got trusty wet suit on and ran down to water.
Besides getting my heart rate up with the front tire dilema, none.
