Run
Comments: good idea to warm up - - got my breathing steady - - start was a jumble of people - -walking and running - really no room to run - -strollers, dogs, etc. in the way -- ended up running on the sidewalk. 1st mile marker seemed a LONG way off - - did not feel like 1 mile - the 2nd mile market was too close to mile 1 - -I think someone goofed. What would you do differently?: start out front, so I'm not stuck behind a ton of people walking and running slowly. watch my pace and make sure I keep my heart rate steady. On mile 2 climb, I got signficantly out of breath, really did not want to walk, but had to walk about 25 feet at one point. Post race
Warm down: grabbed water - really wanted gatorade - none available - waited outside by finish line, then got chilled; headed inside to gym to warm up - - ate a banana and 1/2 a bagel. Really started to get chilled - -running shirt, pants, shoes and socks, hat and gloves were soaking wet (I guess it rained harder than I remembered). Went to locker room and used hair dryer to dry some of my clothes - much better. Ran the 1/2 mile back to the garage - it was a COLD run! Got a chai tea latte at starbucks on the way home! What limited your ability to perform faster: people in my way.....steep hill Event comments: Too bad for the rain - - still not a bad time - - wish Connor had come with me - bummer doing it by myself - oh well - training was good. Problem with the timing chips - - no official times. Last updated: 2010-11-18 12:00 AM

picked up race packet night before. ate 1/2 a bagel with creamcheese - dropped by hot tea in the garage - drank gatorade enroute. Parked in garage in Towson and walked to race. Got timing chip and attached to running shoes (note to self: lace locks don't work with timing chip, had to take off lace lock and attach timing chip). wore long running pants, wool socks, new running shoes, long sleeve light weight running shirt, light weight wind breaker, head band and fleece gloves - - should have brought a ball cap for the rain - - found a ball cap in car - -was old Cameco cap - it will do!
Cold and rainy out - - ran up and down the Y parking lot to warm up. Could feel my heart rate - racing - excitement. could feel my heart rate come down as I warmed up - breathing became more steady and stable. Decided I really would not need the windbreaker - it was too warm. Just before race started. I removed the head band and wind breaker - tying it around my waist.
