Swim
Comments: i cant complain about my swim. I have not swam a lot the past few months. there was no possibility of drafting with the start format. last half my sighting was difficult, cuz it was looking right into the sun. What would you do differently?: be over by wave start a little earlier. i ended up feeling rushed a little Transition 1
Comments: it was a long transition from the beach to the bike rack. Bike
Comments: I really cant complain about my decent speed gain since last year. Its a good start to gauge the season What would you do differently?: Overall bike fitness. I worked on my run this winter and my bike was some what neglected. I need to work on top end speed/power, and hills. Transition 2
Comments: another longer distance transition, just like the swim to bike. What would you do differently?: a few more quick bricks. so that i can get my running legs a little more immediately off the bike. Run
Comments: i ran too fast the first 3/4 of a mile. Garmin said it was around 6:45. It felt relatively smooth. I ended up getting a blister on both feet (nothing major) I love those racing flats. It helped that i had a guy running with me the first 4 miles. he was chatty and upbeat. It gave me something to take my mind of running pain. I started to pick it up with 2 miles left. i kind of died (slowed down) with a half mile left However all that being said: I am super happy with dropping 1:45 per mile from my last tri last fall. The running this winter really helped. What would you do differently?: I would try to temper my enthusiasm at the start and pace a little better. also i need to learn how much i have left in the tank and when to start pushing it, so that dont run out of gas before the finish line. Post race
Warm down: walked around. got cookies, banana, and water. went to chiropractor, and massage tent. chiropractor was super good and informative. I have never been to a chiropractor and i am now going to find one in my area, tomorrow. What limited your ability to perform faster: Over all top end bike speed/ fitness. Also speed work in the run. My time was a great improvement, but my 10k pace was a mere 30 seconds behind my fastest possible one mile time. Event comments: Over all, i was so happy with the race. We will do it again next year! I was worried about the bike course and the 1500 racers, but it was totally manageable. I think that is due to the plethora of volunteers and police officers. They really new what they were doing and I felt completely safe and at ease the whole time. THis is a well organized race with a very WIDE range of competitors in all shapes, sizes and abilities. I dont have lot of experience with races (yet) but this was very good Last updated: 2010-11-26 12:00 AM
