Swim
Comments: I've got to get better about sighting. While I was MUCH MORE comfortable in the water than I have ever been, I had problems swimming for the buoy's :( What would you do differently?: Sight better. PEE IN WETSUIT!!! I've GOT to get over this and just DO IT! I can pee on the running trail behind a rock but I can't pee in the water :( Transition 1
Comments: I need to practice getting my suit off in transition. At OWS practices we take them off in the water b/c it's easier... yep, need to stop that :( What would you do differently?: Be better about HOW I apply sunscreen. And WHERE!!! Bike
Comments: Just after leaving the park entrance I thought I had a flat, and a guy said it looked a little flat. I got off my bike and was going to use a cartridge, but I couldn't get it to work... then I stopped AGAIN, got the cartridge to work but it wasn't attached to the valve. :( Got going again... hit a whopping 4mph heading up the hill (really considering stealing my husband's compact crank). REALLY needed to pee!!! (see swim above). THANK THE LORD, there was a port-a-potty at the turn around!!! My time paid for it, but it was worth it. What would you do differently?: REMEMBER straw for aerobottle :) Make sure my tires are good... though I DID pump them up beforehand. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Learn to get out of my shoes before the dismount. Run
Comments: I downed some HoneyStinger energy chews out of transition on the run. Not sure if they played a role or not, but my side later cramped and I had some reflux causing me to really want to puke. I also think that perhaps I should have had a gel halfway out. Though all my winter running has paid off, I took 10 minutes off the run from my last Olympic. Amazing how remembering the inhaler in T2 can help :) What would you do differently?: Better nutrition and hydration. Post race
Warm down: Grabbed some oranges and grapes and water. Walked around, talked to ladies I met on the run. What limited your ability to perform faster: As always, training :/ Possibly over hydrating last minute? Still not sure why I cramped up in my side on the run. It wasn't like a regular little stitch, it was so bad that it continued into Sunday. Event comments: BBSC puts on an AWESOME event. The support was out of this world. I've never seen so much support on a course before. There was even a guy to hold my bike while I used the toilet at the turn around! :) FIRST CLASS EVENT! Last updated: 2010-11-29 12:00 AM

Was really nice to get there the night before and have the opportunity to get in the water (after freaking out over white caps - though the wind did die down).
Then as I was getting my water bottles gathered, I realized that I forgot the straw for my aerobottle :( uh-oh.. have no fear, I spotted a straw n our trash from a BK cup :)
Woke-up early, set-up transition, then walked back to the camper to eat breakfast (bagel w/ pb, banana, apple juice, and yogurt).
Ran into one of my aerobics instructors from work, hung out w/ her in the water while waiting on our wave to start. Was first in the water :)
