Swim
Comments: OMG - sucked. Worse than alcatraz swim. I somehow managed to get front center at the start of the swim and from there it was like bumper cars. I expected it, but due to the 2+ weeks travel to low levels (tri in Boulder at altitude), I had a lot of trouble catching my breath. I slowed and got out of the mess and was able to get going just past the first turn (1/2 way to finish). Then got into my stroke and actually started passing people from my wave and the one before. What would you do differently?: Don't plan on working towards the outside but go there and start from there. We were limited by how far we could go over (by the dock), so it was crowded. Had I waited ~10 seconds to start, I probably could have taken a minute or more off the swim by getting more clean water. Transition 1
Comments: Longer run from beach to bikes and tired doing it. Felt like I was moving quickly, but video Jan shot tells a different story. Always seems like you are rushing when putting on socks and helment, etc., but I look like I'm moving in slow motion in the video. Flying mount failed - one shoe started to come off and the other released early, so it flopped around and hit the ground. I was able to keep going and did not have to stop, so not all lost, but I might need to work some new techniques. What would you do differently?: Use different mounting to hold my right shoe Bike
Comments: Could have pushed more on the bike. First part was difficult coming off the swim and it was the first time I've been on a bike in 2 weeks. Overall, I was satisfied with my ride considering the lack of training and how I felt after the swim. I started to cramp during the run, so I figure I caused that during the ride and not drinking enough. Figured (wrongly) that I had enough lake in me that I did not need more. What would you do differently?: Drink more and not take 2 weeks off. Transition 2
Comments: Good transition - did flying dismount well, but going a little fast. Bike did want to do a front wheely just before I stepped off (hit brakes hard). Liked seeing my Jan cheering for me and gave her a wave. No issues during this one What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: SLOW SLOW SLOW. Cramp in left leg immediately after starting run and had to stop a few times to try to stretch it out. Sucked seing about 12 people go by in my age group and tried to hang on, but could not. Lack of training hurt. What would you do differently?: Need more speed work and practice. Post race
Warm down: Sat on my butt and ate / drank. Talked to Jan and watched the expo activities. Did stretch my leg and cramp area. What limited your ability to perform faster: Being fat, old, and ugly. Also took 2 weeks off coming into this one due to travel. Event comments: Great place for a race. Very organized. Last updated: 2010-11-29 12:00 AM

Swam 1 lap around the swim area in the lake (maybe 100 yards). Stretched some
