Run
Comments: Felt fine. Slipped on the transition between pavement and grass in last turn. Good run for me. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 1
Comments: Before slipping my feet into my shoes, I collapsed the heel of my right shoe while getting up to speed. Then couldn't wiggle my foot in properly. Basically had to coast fooling with the shoe. Felt like forever but probably only lost 10 seconds. What would you do differently?: Find a way to get my foot in the shoe faster! Bike
Comments: I actually struggled on one of the short climbs which really surprised me. In hindsight should've shifted up a couple cogs and kept cadence up. Kind of threw my concentration for a couple miles. Needed to stay positive and fight off a bad day. Got it together until I reached for my Gu and got it all over my hand. The best guys were out front so I rode the whole race alone until I passed one fella late. Finished up. What would you do differently?: Better concentration. The start kind of dictated what the bike leg had in store. Enthusiasm was lacking. It happens. Transition 2
Comments: Took my time to squirt some water on my sticky hands. Heard my name yelled from a couple directions. Looked around and took off. What would you do differently?: Not much. Run
Comments: Started the run with a side stitch. Tried to stretch it out...then stopped for a few seconds and pushed under my rib cage. Didn't work so I just took off and tried to hang on. Was passed down the stretch which didn't feel good because I must have had 100 yds on the guy with only 300 to go. Garmin had it at 1.96 mi. overall. What would you do differently?: Who knows. Glad I was able to keep the feet moving one in front of the other at least. Post race
Warm down: I was spent. Walked around, grabbed some pancakes and fruit and waited for some friends to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: Errors, concentration was lacking, side stitch. Someday I'll eat and drink enough. Event comments: I was a bit surprised at the AG win. I thought the overall effort was there, just had issues I couldn't shake. Felt good about pushing through. Afterwards, a few of us went to another race location to scout the course. Cut it off at about 20 miles and went home. Last updated: 2010-12-01 12:00 AM

Normal wakeup and normal light breakfast. Had everything in the car the night before. Fooled around and then had to scoot out the door for the 35 minute ride to race site.
Pretty much setup transition and ran a few hundred yards before getting the gun.
