Run
  • 21m 2s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 06m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

Pace felt good. Heart rate was fairly high, but I ignored that and continued running by feel. Enjoyed the light rain! Kept things cool
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Was overall happy with first leg
Transition 1
  • 01m 42s
Comments:

Horrible! First event, thus wasn't prepared as I should have been. had a tough time getting shoes on.
What would you do differently?:

Everything. Next time will use other biking shoes which are much easier to put on (velco only). Take transition more serious. Practice unracking and reracking bike before race

Comments:

I really enjoyed the ride. Heart rate was great. Pace seemed perfect. Even passed some of those guys on the expensive tri-bikes. Had one time on the chipseal section that I thought I had a flat tire. My bike was acting very loose and I was having a tough time controlling it. Had to slow a bit. Then realized it was just the rough roads in wet conditions. Got the bike under control and picked the pace back up. Had a gel taped to my bike to use during the ride. Unfortunatley when I wanted to use it I noticed that it had fallen off. I guess tape doesn't stick as well in the rain.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. Maybe would have pushed the pace just a bit more the last 5 miles
Transition 2
  • 01m 19s
Comments:

Again this was the worst part of my race. Had a hard time getting my shoes off.
What would you do differently?:

Comments:

I was starting to feel tired. Guess I let that get to my head.
What would you do differently?:

Toughen up mentally!

Event comments:

Overall, this was a great race. I have done too many running races to count over the years and just started biking seriously. Race was as organized as any I have participated in. Volunteers were great. look forward to next race and using what I have learned from this one.
