Pre-race routine:

Got up 2 hrs early, ate bagel, peanut butter, and banana. Stetched, has some water. Brought a Gatorade prime down and drank that about 45 min before start.
Event warmup:

Stood around in the corral, but at least it wasn't cold
Run
  • 2h 53m 8s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 13m 13s  min/mile
Comments:

Never really tried to push too hard as I didn't want to be suffering in the end. My left quad really was hurting toward the end and certainly contributed to the walk/run strategy I adopted the last 3 miles.

I also made sure to take in calories from the gatorade on my belt and with the Gu chomps. Definitely made me feel much better at the end/ after the race.
What would you do differently?:

Run 13 and 14 mile training runs. My muscles really started to hurt after 10 and 11 miles, which is where I maxed out in training runs
Post race
Warm down:

Walked up to the hotel room, strethced there. So glad we stayed at Mandalay, beat the shit out of trying to find a way to get back to the hotel after the race.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Weight. Not enough long training runs. That's about it.

Event comments:

Flat and fast, great sights, lots of fun people.

Course: Liked this course better than last year just because I knew we were going all the way to Fremont street before turning around. Much better job with water stations and cytomax being available than last year.
