Pre-race routine:

Food:
1 Gu & two bannanas
Event warmup:

nothing really. Water was too cold to get in and swim around and then get out.
Swim
  • 16m 9s
  • 600 yards
  • 02m 40s / 100 yards
Comments:

I think this time includes the run up to transition (which was kind-of long), but the overall performance of the swim was horrible. The water temp was about 10 degrees colder than what I have swam in. This was my first time swimming in a group and in open water (you could only see maybe 1 foot in front of you). I could not calm myself down!!! The breathing was bad. I did maybe 50 yards free-style and the rest was breast or back stroke.
What would you do differently?:

Practice, Practice, Practice!!!!
Transition 1
  • 01m 25s
Comments:

This was that great, but was alright for my first time out of the swim.
What would you do differently?:

I need a tri shirt that I will swim in. Spent what seemed like forever trying to get my shirt on after putting my heart rate monitor on. socks and shoes were fine. helmet and glasses fine.
Bike
  • 47m 49s
  • 13.67 miles
  • 17.15 mile/hr
Comments:

This was a very good bike! I wanted to get above 17 mph for an average and I got 17.1! There were two big hills and the first I actually had to get off for a little bit and walk. My heart rate and breathing were very high, but they both came down pretty quickly and I pressed on. I made it up the second big hill without getting off, and I actually thought it was steeper.
I got some bad heart burn during the ride, not sure why. It might have to do with the regular Gatorade, in the water bottle, but not sure.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing as far as training goes. Very happy with the ride

I would like to get some different gears that would be better for mountains. A lot of people got off and walked, but some made it up and I think if I had some smaller gears I could have made it.
Transition 2
  • 00m 56s
Comments:

I thought this was a very good transition.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing much.
Run
  • 32m 43s
  • 3 miles
  • 10m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

Solid time for the run for me. I did walk a lot, even if it was only for short periods.
What would you do differently?:

Practice real bricks more.
Try and get my time that I am running to increase during a brick.
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Practice the swimming in open murky water more.

Event comments:

This was a great race! I would recommend it to anyone for a sprint.
