Transition 1
Comments: I took my time from the water, up the Helix, to T1 in the convention center. Bike
What would you do differently?: Ride a little harder, maybe eat a bigger breakfast. Transition 2
Comments: I took my time here too. Wanted around 5 min so 5:30 isn't bad. Run
Comments: I liked the run and how the rest stops/aide stations were stocked. They had plenty of volunteers. You never felt like you were left hanging out there. What would you do differently?: I started the run WAAAAY TOOOO fast. First mile was sub 6 min. I tried to slow down and thought I did, but next 3 miles were sub 8 min (in the 7:30-7:40 range). NOT GOOD. I found myself walking after that. I walked for a good qtr mile. From that point on I would job to the aide stations, walk thru them drinking, then walk about another .2, then jog to the next one, repeat. I met up with a guy that was doing about the same as me so we did that pattern together. We lost track of time and walked almost a mile at one point. With about 5 to go, he couldn't run anymore. I was able to jog the rest of the race. Post race
Warm down: Nothing. Ate pizza (no cheese), grapes, cookies, sprite. What limited your ability to perform faster: First IM and blew up during run due to going out too fast. Overall time was 12:20--I think I could have easily finished in 11-11:30 had I paced the run at 8:30's or so.
