Comments: Took water at all tables. Nutrition: Gu at start, Accel Gel at 4, Gu at 8. Felt hungry at mile 3, but went away. See above for plan. Per usual, plan was scrapped at mile 4 and just ran hard for last 9. Easy neg split second half. Felt great. Minor quad/calf pain and sore starting at mile 5, but ran through it. Was being chased at the end, which encouraged some nice, fast running after mile 12. Finished strong. Never felt the long warm up. What would you do differently?: Neg split every mile and finish all out. If doing wall training, warm up 7 and just do a 20. Post race
Warm down: Ran 0.35 back to the truck. Slim Fast recovery during heavy stretching. What limited your ability to perform faster: Held back on 1st 4 miles. Event comments: I just can't pin down NOTC. Post-race activities were almost nil and registration seemed unorganized. HOWEVER, they plan a great route and provide great provisions throughout. Woke up at hotel, ate PB sandwich and headed out.
4 mile warm up. Intent of this race was to run 17 miles. Long warm up to initiate a wall around mile 10, and goal was to keep an 8:00 pace after the wall hits.
