Run
Comments: This was my first Marathon and I had a great time. The course was well supported and there was always something fun to see or music to listen to. I ran the first half to fast but was warned that I would probably do that. I never felt tired but my knee was in pretty bad shape by the end of the run. Staying in a Disney resort hotel is a must. The bus helped allot, also remember to request a late checkout with housekeeping as soon as you check in the event you need to leave on Sunday after the race. They only allow a limited number of late check outs per building. What would you do differently?: I would try to run a negative split. I also over trained for this; I went in to the race still sore from (knee pain) from training. Post race
Warm down: Stretched and went to EPCOT with my family to cheer on the rest of the runners. We staked out a spot at the 25 mile mark in France and had a great time encourageing the rest of the runners until the course closed. What limited your ability to perform faster: I over trained and lack of experience with a run strategy. Event comments: I will do this again next year. My 16 year old daughte wants to do the half so I will do the goofy and run the half with her. Last updated: 2010-12-22 12:00 AM

Drove from Tampa to Orlando on Saturday and checked into the Disney Caribbean Beach Resort around 1230 PM. After Check in we went to the Magic Kingdom to celebrate my Son's 6th birthday. Returned to the room at 8:30 PM got my race kit ready for Sunday and went to bed at 9:30 PM. Woke up at 2:00 AM on Sunday, drank a protein shake, ate a light breakfast of blended fruit and a cereal bar (total calories about 650-700) and got dressed in my neon green running outfit (so the family could pick me out in a crowd)and throw away sweats than went out to meet the bus to the race at 2:55 AM.
Did some dynamic and static strewing while waiting to move to the starting corrals (mainly to keep warm) and then walked 10-15 min to the corrals to wait approximately 45 minutes for the race to start. About 120 min prior to the first wave starting had a Gatorade Prime. After the 2nd wave started (I was in Corral E which was the 5th wave) I dropped my throw away warm gear outside the corral and the event staff moved our corral to the start line.
