Swim
Comments: An OK swim for me. Water temp didn't exactly help a smooth stroke. What would you do differently?: A full wetsuit would have been nice. Should have done a few OWS to practice stroke under less than ideal conditions. Transition 1
Comments: Did my best in the rain. Lots of mud in T area. Jumped on bike but foot slipped off pedal. What would you do differently?: Not worry about setting my Garmin on bike. Bike
Comments: Felt great for first loop and then backed off a bit for the run. Had one Hammer gel and one bottle Perpetuum. Transition 2
Comments: Ran with bike shoes about 200 yards through muddy grass to rack. Had some delay in getting my KSwiss shoes with Yankz on quickly. Yanks too tight with wet feet. Picked up some small cuts and a blister too. Ran through lots of mud getting out. What would you do differently?: Dry shoes with socks. Don't mess with Garmin. Run
Comments: Felt good for first 2 and realized my pace of 8:00 was a bit fast so backed off a bit. Had some muscle pain in left lower back. Slipped and lost balance on muddy trail so walked about a minute to regain focus. What would you do differently?: Push harder? Its a new PR for an Olypix so I'm happy with that! Post race
Warm down: Nothing. Get in car and put some dry clothes on. Had to drive home to see my son's vocal recital. Made it just in time. What limited your ability to perform faster: Weather Event comments: It's a shame the weather screwed this up. Looked like a great venue on a nice day. Good volunteers. Arrived around 7:45 for a 10:00 start to get good parking. Had a bagel, coffee, and some Perpetum. Set up transition area and went back to car to stay warm and out of rain. Went back about 9:15 and met the Queen herself working as a volunteer on this wet day. What a trooper.
Not much. A little 2 minute jog and a 2 minute swim. Between the rain, wind, and cold. It was all we could do to stand without shaking for the national anthem.
