Run
Comments: Felt great right from the start. This is a pretty hilly course with close to 900 ft. total elevation gain and loss, so you can't really hold a steady pace, so I tried to keep a steady effort that felt like I was right on the edge of going too hard. A couple of times I started to go a little too hard, felt my breathing get labored and the start of a little side stitch, so I dialed it back. The last 3 miles I went back and forth with a guy, and then with about a mile to go I got a few yards ahead, and was able to finish strong and hold him off,so that felt good. Had nothing left in the tank at the end, so I paced it well. Previous PR was 1:59:33, I had a goal of 1:57, and a "stretch" goal of 1:55, so with a 1:52:06, I blew those all away. I was very confident throughout the whole race which really helped me. Definitely my best running race ever, and a great way to start the season. What would you do differently?: ` Post race
Warm down: Walked around a little, and then I got hungry which is unusual for me. Luckily, Outback was doing the post race food, plus they had beer, so a steak and a couple of beers tasted fantastic. What limited your ability to perform faster: I'm not too fast. Could stand to lose a couple of pounds. Event comments: Excellent event. RD's Kathleen and Myriam have really done a great job making this a first class race, the volunteers were great, and it's for an excellent cause. Last updated: 2010-12-27 12:00 AM

My usual shake a couple of hours before the start.
About a half mile of easy running. While warming up, I realized I was going to have a good run. I felt like I was running very easily, and everything felt loose.
