Pre-race routine:

Breakfast at 5:45, toast with peanut butter, oatmeal, OJ, and a lemon lime G2 with water.

15 minutes before race, Gatorade PRIME, fruit punch, and man did that stuff work.
Event warmup:

Stretches, very little warm up. Come on, it was my first race, and I was taking it all in!
Swim
  • 07m 45s
  • 500 yards
  • 01m 33s / 100 yards
Comments:

1st out of the pool in my heat, by about 100 Yards... I was a little concerned with my pacing because I lapped a few people in the pool.
What would you do differently?:

I started out WAY to fast, the gatorade PRiME was working, and with the adrenaline, it sped me up a bit. I still settled down and had the fastest 500 I have ever had.
Transition 1
  • 01m 45s
Comments:

T1 was slow. I took too long drying off, will just stick to the lower legs and feet to get socks on and not worry about the rest.
Bike
  • 16m 25s
  • 8 miles
  • 29.24 mile/hr
Comments:

Did pretty well on the bike, again, was the first off and to get started on the run. My seat and set a little too far back, I don't think the seat was reset from the previous heat.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, felt good and ready for the run.
Transition 2
  • 00m 25s
Comments:

T2 didn't really exist. Just hopped off bike and ran upstairs to indoor track
Run
  • 14m 15s
  • 2 miles
  • 07m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

Good pace for mile 1, picked it up a bit for mile 2. May have pushed too hard too early, last lap was pretty tough, but they usually are.
What would you do differently?:

Just keep pushing, I am really happy with the results. Still a fast split for me.
Post race
Warm down:

1/10 mile walk, banana and G2

What limited your ability to perform faster:

T1. If i cut that down, I would have won my heat.

Event comments:

This was my first tri. I would highly recommend this to anyone that is thinking about doing one. The distances were pretty easy, and I learned alot from the experience. People were very nice and helpful. I can't wait for an outdoor one!
