Swim
Comments: Another disastrous OW swim. Started out nice and easy behind the pack and then it all fell apart. Couldn't catch my breath....struggled the rest of the wat and resorted to sculling on my back a good part of the way. Very frustrating. What would you do differently?: Swim freestyle? Duh? I guess I need to keep working on OW swim. The more I do...hopefully the more comfortable I will be and light will click on! Transition 1
Comments: Pretty painless trainsition. Still had a little issue clipping helmet (think it is too tight) and a little rough trying to clip in pedals, but other than that...pretty good! What would you do differently?: Practice bike mounting....potentially work on leaving shoes clipped in and riding on top for awhile before I get into my shoes. Bike
Comments: Didn't feel quite as strong on this bike leg as my last race, but still came in over my goal pace of 17.5mph. Still need some serious work on hills and shifting gears smoothly. I kept getting stuck in between gears and it would throw my cadence all off. Looking for a new bike before my first Oly....maybe that will help! What would you do differently?: Work on shifting gears more smoothly...hill work! Transition 2
Comments: Easy one here....sepnt a little time getting socks on....but other than that...pretty good transition. Just need to get faster! What would you do differently?: Not mucj...consider running without socks. Run
Comments: After swim already knew my goal time was shot, but for whatever reason I decided to attack the run pretty hard. Took a pretty easy pace through the first 3/4 mile, but after than really kicked it in and started passing people. It was a little difficult to pass being a trail run, but took the opportunities when I could. Starting cramping right after Mile 2 marker, but sucked it up and finished with a pretty strong time! What would you do differently?: Need to figure out hydration to prevent cramping. Happened at last race, but not as early in the race as last time. Post race
Warm down: Watched some other competitors come in....and made an immediat bee line to the beer truck! Yeah Beer! had some fruit, bread and pretty much just walked around. A little light stretching, but that was it! What limited your ability to perform faster: psyched out before the swim...need to really work on this! Event comments: Good race....would have liked some pizza or something a little more substantial after the race though! Last updated: 2011-01-03 12:00 AM

This was an early start 6:34am wave, so I was up at 3am. Had a english muffin with egg, cheese & candaian bacon. Then a protein bar and some water. Hydration was pretty good....didin't have to drink too much to get back to clear! Headed out to the site around 4:15am to beat the traffic. 1/2 mile walk to transition area and then got everything set up, picked up chip and got marked....pretty painless.
Not much here....did some light stretching and talked with some freinds. Basically wondered around looking at all the sweet bikes. Did get in a little 200yd warm up swim before the first wave went out.
