Run
Comments: I didn't know what to expect with this race since it was my first cowtown. Very impressed with the location and how it was ran. It had plenty of parking and didn't seem crowded even though there were a ton of runners. I decided to follow a pacer for the first time with my 8:30 hr goal. They guy was "mister runner" and told everyone how he was going to take off real fast for a few miles, and then work down into the pace. Well... the dude was flying. The first few miles were 8:03, 8:12, 8:09, 8:15. I was flying for me, and eventually passed the pacer as his toughness started to fall off. I didn't drop below 8:30 until mile 10, but I had built such a cushion I was able to surpass my goal for a PR. What would you do differently?: I'm not sure. I was hurting pretty good miles 10-13 and had to keep telling myself not to walk. I could walk all I wanted after the race. Post race
Warm down: Just walked around the finish area and drank a lot. They had a ton of food as you walked the few blocks from the finish line back to the start. Great setup. No crowded. What limited your ability to perform faster: Maybe losing some weight before the race. Otherwise, I was tapped out. Event comments: Loved it. I will definitely do it again. The usual. Peanut butter and banana sandwich. Coffee.
Nothing... just walked around and got my head right.
