Swim
Comments: The fog made it hard to see the balloon arch. Plus, my googles fogged up rounding last bouy. Swam breast stroke the entire way to ensure propert navigation. Plus, since I was in a later wave I had to negotiate through slower swimmers. What would you do differently?: Google defogger and swim at front of pack not back. I had to pass a lot of weaker swimmers. Transition 1
Comments: Had to stop and p/u sweats at top of beach and didn't hussle up hill as fast as possible. Also, felt it necessary to squirt off feet and dry before putting on socks, not sure how much time I lost with that task. And, I took the opportunity to grab a drink and some stinger energy gummies. Had a hard time clipping into pedals after mounting bike. What would you do differently?: Wow, 5+ minutes in transition. Obviously, wasted time. Will get "yankz" for bike shoes and have them clipped in pedals Hussle into transition and have it staged better to get out. Drinks and energy packs on bike, not while standing there. Bike
Comments: Felt right quad cramping at mile 18 or so. What would you do differently?: Change nutrition regimen with some electrolytes replacements Transition 2
Comments: Better transition coming in, had to manuever through some racks but not too difficult. What would you do differently?: Stretch my hamstrings and prepare my legs for running. Run
Comments: Tough run for me, crammped up pretty bad and had to walk about 1/2 of it. Finished strong though and ran last 3/4 mi What would you do differently?: More fluids and electrolyets on bike / better nutrition pre-race / better overall conditioning and training for run. Post race
Warm down: Massage tables and ice lines too long. Did my own stretching routine and took some supplements / fluids to treat cramping. What limited your ability to perform faster: Overall conditioning for running. Spent a lot of time on the bike and in the pool, but obviously not enough running. Event comments: Didn't know what to expect for 1st tri. 307 of 382 men, I'll take it. 46 of 53 in AG and 29 of 36 in Clydesdale division. Overarching goal to finish - check. Time goal of 2:30 missed by 9 minutes, too much time in transition and cramping on run.
