Comments: Swim cancelled due to river conditions. Time trial start to get to the bike. 15-18 athletes let go every 12 seconds. Created quite a commotion in transition area. Worked very well though. Bike
Comments: Worked almost entirely on the small ring with cadence about 95. Lots of work above 100. Used big ring only on a few down hills. Avoided temptation to stay on big ring and lower cadence. Really believe this helped preserve me for the run. Course was very fast and fun. I love being in the older women's age group. We usually get to start just after a few men age groups and seem to have bike course to ourselves for awhile. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Transition 2
Comments: Muddy. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: Good run. Felt good but think course not measured quite right. Don't think time reflects true course distance. Too fast. But I will take it. Maintained good cadence and pace throughout. Shoulder started hurting around mile four. Pushed that out of my mind. Focused on the women ahead to try and pass one by one. Mantra of the day was 'feet are light'. Seemed to work. What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: None. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing. Perhaps equipment and not enough long bike rides. Biking segment definitely my weak point. Need to work on this. Event comments: No mile markers on the run except for 5K and 5 miles. Hard to know ones pace when this kind of marking. Overall this was a great race for me. Made good decisions on the bike to ensure a good run. Very happy with this. Last updated: 2011-01-04 12:00 AM
