Pre-race routine:

Quick coffee, 3 (yes 3) toilet visits and a peanut Clif bar - now my favourite thing since I got some imported. Why, oh why do they not sell them here in Oz!

Comments:

Thought I would try following a pacer this year but about 2km in the 1h50 guy started overtaking the 1h40 guy who started yelling at him so I decided I was doing fine and would pace myself. Pace was very even throughout and I just kept going.
Quite enjoyed the race all in all. It felt comfortable, although my legs were feeling it towards the end, and don't get my wrong, it wasn't easy. There was a stage about 2-3km from the finish where I felt pretty nauseous but I figured it would be almost as quick to just get to the end and deal with it then.
What would you do differently?:

Possibly could have held a slightly faster pace throughout but this was faster than my aim so I am really happy. I think I can do 1h 40. My running friends think 1h 30 but they are delusional.
Also, maybe I should tape my toes. It doesn't matter how short my nails are I get one that bleeds when I run over 10k or so. Oh, and I lost another toenail - 2 down.....

Warm down:

I walked a km to meet my supporters and then another to the car. Then went for a quick shower and a MASSIVE breakfast.

Event comments:

Its a good race but getting ever more popular so you have to have a strategy to deal with the crowds at the start.
