Pre-race routine:

Got up...ate a peanut butter sandwich. The race started at 12:00 noon. I raced with a friend. It's always good to have someone to run because it makes the run seem easier. We arrived at 10:30 and picked up our t-shirts/packet. The next hour was spent sitting in the car and walking around the welcome center. 30 minutes before the race, we walked over to start line and got ready to run.
Event warmup:

Just some light stretching.

Comments:

I admit that I thought about walking several times. It's especially tempting when everyone was walking around you but I didn't. Looking back at the race...they shouldn't call it a hill climb, it's more like a mountain climb. I think the water stations were at Mile 4, Mile 6 and Mile 8. Toughest section was mile 7/beginning mile 8. The downhills at mile 6 and at the end of mile 8 were welcomed sights.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more water during the race because of the muscle cramps.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around a little. Took some pictures of the huge ice wall below the finish line.

Event comments:

Overall a good race. Beat the 2 hr mark and run the whole thing were my two goals. I accomplished both of them. If I had to do it over again, I would drink more water during the race. The 3 water stations were good but it wasn't enough water. Probably should carry a small bottle with me or something. I had a major muscle cramp on the way back home. We stopped for gatorade and that helped a lot. I would definitely do it again but I'll need some time to recover. haha

Performance: Good
Course: The course was 10.56 miles. Approximately the first 3 miles went through town. It had a few inclines but nothing major. After the turn at mile 3, the climbs really started. I just remember looking up and thinking.."I'm going to run up that?!?". I did and would round the curve just to see it's uphill as far as I could see. I decided just to look down and keep running. Looking up was too discouraging at times.
