Swim
Comments: Got kicked in the face in the first 100 yrds and had to stop to adjust googles. Found myself having to do alot of avoidance of others so tended to alternate between tight to the course line and wide to avoid folks taking up the middle. Overall I think this was good performance given 1) First OWS of the season (practice or otherwise) and 2) HAven't been in the pool in months. What would you do differently?: Swim more Transition 1
Comments: Clydes were furthest from the Bike Out. I walked the bike to get the feeling going in the legs. What would you do differently?: Not much Bike
Comments: I totally blew up on the bike. Wass not expecting the rolling hills given central IL location. Also struggled mightily with the wind. Between those and the heat, I had what I consider a terrible time. Normally, I'd be blowing by folks but this time did not. What would you do differently?: Train harder on the bike now that the weather is nicer by home. Practice hills and in windy conditions so I'm not so dependent on the conditions. Oh, and never ever use GU on hot days. I drank plenty afterwards but felt sick most of the rest of the race. Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Nothing, think this was ok. Run
Comments: Bad, bad and bad. Was too damn hot. I was baked before I even started. Hamstrings were very tight for some reason. I thought I'd walk it off but I couldnt get cooled down enough to run much. More of a death shuffle. This was one of those times that I felt if I pushed it, I'd hurt myself. So, decided it wasn't worth it and walked too much. What would you do differently?: More running this year than ever before. Longer distances. One thing missing had been doing so in hot wheather. I joked that every training day has been 60 degrees and every race has been 85 degrees. So going to spend the next 2 months getting acclimated and improving my bike to help the run. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Heat and preperation Event comments: Really think that race direcrors have to adjust to conditions. One the run, there was only 1 drink station that you could hit on the way out and on the way back. Given the temps and direct sunlight, one at the turnaround would have been helpful in addition to the other one. Otherwise the race was well organized. Last updated: 2011-01-08 12:00 AM

Was a bit off as I travelled to get to this one. So spent the night in a hotel room in Normal with my GF and 3 kids. Wasn't the greatest sleep.
