Pre-race routine:

Met-RX meal reaplacement shake ~3 hours before start. Approximately 1 cup of water.
Event warmup:

Calisthenics
Swim
  • 00m
  • 547 yards
  • / 100 yards
Comments:

VERY COLD!!!! Bought the wetsuit the night prior from Landis Cycles (an Event sponsor that happened to bring some).
What would you do differently?:

Had a good swim and was right on the pace I set in the pool during practice. I would invest in some anti-fog for the goggles. Need to work on pace in the pool more and get a little faster.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

May have jumped on the bike too early.
What would you do differently?:

Transition was good and slow for first time out. Didn’t have to sit but did have balance problems with the extremely cold water. I definitely need some other way to secure my shoes other than laces (MTN bike shoes). Next race I won’t need gloves as my left hand should be healed up by May.
Bike
  • 00m
  • 12.43 miles
  • 0.00 mile/hr
Comments:

Hills, Hills, Hills, did I mention hills? I was not prepared for the hills on this race.
What would you do differently?:

I am going to train on hills alot more than I have been!
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Good transition overall. I could have been a little faster, but again this is my first and i just wanted smooth.
What would you do differently?:

Prepare mentally during the last mile of the bike as to what I will be doing on the transition.
Run
  • 00m
  • 3.11 miles
  •  min/mile
Comments:

Great run overall, loved the stairs. Did not drink enough at the aid stations and got really bad cramps in both quads the last ¼ mile.
What would you do differently?:

slow down at the aid stations and drink a little more.
Post race
Warm down:

Lots and lots of stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Preparedness for the hills on the bike.

Event comments:

Maps were not available to the sprint athletes until day bfore race.
