Pre-race routine:

This was a weird one because I am used to my races following breakfast - but my time for this one was 2:20 pm. So I had lunch - but regrettably I cannot recall what I ate. Then drove into Boston, freaked out driving on Soldiers Field Road and the Parkways and Comm Ave with the Greenline - found a garage and parked close by.
Event warmup:

Warmed up 20 minutes in the garage, 3 1 minute intervals then some spin ups until they told us to move into the main room - felt like a great warmup.

Comments:

The scene was insane with people everywhere. Once I found my way around, I settled in a little and went to warm up. Warm up was the best thing for me - just me and the trainer and my garmin - felt good and in control. Then into the main room. Was in a group of 4 guys and me - start goes off and I am in last place. Shocking. :) So I went "inside" and didn't worry about what was on the screen. looked up every once in a while to see where I was on distance, and at one point I'd passed someone and that gave me a little to work for - not let him pass me back. I worked as hard as I could - but I was a little freaked at how high my HR was - staying in zone 5 the entire time. But I kept pushing and was pleased with my effort.
What would you do differently?:

I'd have loved to have my age group in the same heat with me. :) But really, I dont think I could have done anything differently - I really gave it my all.
Post race
Warm down:

Nothing really - nowhere to go. Just hopped off the bike and watched the next heat which was amazing - Dean Phillips (the winner) was incredible to watch. Just unbelievably calm and so efficient.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

In this case, I do feel like my weight was an issue. Not sure why that crept in, but it did.

Event comments:

Certainly MUCH better than my first TT experience at the 2010 symposium. :-) I was happy I chased down this demon and put it to bed. Now that it's a week later - I am glad with how I performed. I was wasted that evening which was amazing to me that a 20 minute effort took that much out of me - in feeling that way and looking at the results, I feel I gave it all I had. The improvement in my FTP is heartening too.
