What would you do differently?: Not go out so hard and go in to lactic Transition 1
Comments: Had a pretty good T1, nothing to compare it to, but considering the guy in 2nd got worked in T1 gotta believe it was solid. What would you do differently?: Not much Bike
Comments: Led the bike portion until mile 9. Got passed and kept telling myself "he better build a big lead" knowing that I had a strong run coming up. I kept postive and tried to stay focused on a high candence without going nuts. I knew that if I could keep him close the best was yet to come. What would you do differently?: Stay mentally tough for all 12+ miles. Not ride so fast (riding scared) right off the bat! Transition 2
Comments: T2 was not as good as T1. Ran with my bike shoes still on, couldn't get my feet out of the shoes quick enough before the dismount line. Had to bail in my shoes which made the running very tough. What would you do differently?: Pick up my bike so that I didn't have to worry about uneven footing in the transition area and a bike bouncing all over the place. Run
Comments: My strongest part of the day. Good to know that I gave myself a shot off of the bike to get it done and accomplished it! What would you do differently?: Not give up the lead on the bike so that I could enjoy running from the front the entire 5k! Post race
Warm down: Change and eat some food! What limited your ability to perform faster: Lack of experience and willingness to push on the bike! Event comments: Nothing to compare it to. Last updated: 2011-01-13 12:00 AM

Really nervous about today's race having never raced before and not ever swimming in my wetsuit/open water for that matter. Drove with Bob and Kylee to Muncie after the 4:30 alarm, got our packet then went to set up shop in the transition area.
After things were set up, Bob and I went for an easy run, then I hopped on my bike for a quick spin, went through my gears to make sure everything was shifting smoothly (not that I could have done anything about it) but it made me feel better. Got lubed up, then slipped on the wetsuit. Listened to the pre-race meeting, then went down to the beach to get ready to roll.
