Pre-race routine:

woke up at 4:30, had a cup of coffee, peanut butter toast and half a banana. Made the 1 hour drive from Dad's house to the race.
Event warmup:

Set up transition and headed for the water. Swam a couple of hundred yards and got warmed up.

What would you do differently?:

This was my first open water race so more time in the water is a must, especially open water.

Comments:

100 yd run from beach to T1-not bad at all. Got my shoes on quickly. Wasted too much time cleaning my feet with the extra water bottle and drying them off with my towel but didn't want sandy feet for the rest of the day.
What would you do differently?:

Forgot my shirt and went back for it, next time ride with no shirt. What was I thinking?

very windy on the way out but I was looking forward to the tailwind on the way back in. Handled the hills ok considering there are no hills were I train. The last hill before the turnaround is a pretty good sized hill but handled it fine. The ride back down that thing was fun, must have been going 35+ mph
What would you do differently?:

Should have pushed harder through the middle of the course. First time seeing the course so I am better prepared for next year.

thought I was moving faster than the time indicated. Boy was I wrong.

push myself much harder. I am faster than that, even after the other parts of the race.
