Swim
Comments: I veered off course pretty badly a few times. Went way right. Will have to work on this. What would you do differently?: Not start at the back of the pack. I passed a LOT of people from my wave as well as the two in front of me, and they were in my way necessitating me to go around them which took some time. I'm big and aggressive enough on the swim to start out in front. Also, since I tend to veer to the right, get on the left side of the pack. This will help keep me in line. Transition 1
Comments: Who knows why it always takes me so long in T1. This race it could be attributed to the fact that the transition area was three blocks away from the swim, and I'm not a strong runner. What would you do differently?: I have no idea. Maybe learn how to run a bit faster out of the water?? Bike
Comments: Happy with this pace. It was manageable and relatively fast for me. This ride setup seemed a little scary to me, and sure enough I heard a woman behind me got hit by a car. Race organizers need to address this safety issue. What would you do differently?: Lose weight so I can go faster? ;) Transition 2
Comments: Initially racked my bike on the wrong rack. Duh. Found correct rack, and I seem to want to sit down to change shoes. Didn't have running shoes sitting out and untied, so this took some time. I'm just freakin' slow in transition... What would you do differently?: Pay attention to where my rack is located. Have running shoes out and ready with laces untied. Run
Comments: Although slow, I'm happy with my run. I initially felt stiff off the bike (as usual), but only had to walk a couple of times the first 5 minutes of the run. After that it was a slow, steady pace until the finish line. And, it was a personal best! :) Yay! What would you do differently?: Nothing. Post race
Warm down: Walked around. What limited your ability to perform faster: Inexperience. Need to lose another 30 lbs. Need to train smarter, which I should be able to do since I now have a coach. Event comments: I liked this race. The area is nice, the volunteers attentive. I'd like to see more police/safety along the bike portion, but other than that it was wonderful. The post race food was wonderful, the massages divine, and I LOVE the hardware. Oh, and I placed third in the Athena division so I got a trophy! Woot! Last updated: 2011-01-20 12:00 AM

Woke @ 5am. Ate oatmeal. Talked to some people. Planned swim strategy (which turned out to be bad).
Brisk half mile walk.
