I was worried that on the second swim that I would cramp close to the finish. That is what happened last year. Well, it happened again this year. It was not as debilitating but still cost me a couple of minutes. I think swimming after a run is always going to be a challenge for me.

A little slower that I expected considering that conditions were so good. By starting the race at 7:00 am, we definitely beat the heat.

Event comments:

I love this race. I had several friends with me who had not done much swimming in the ocean. We all did the swim clinic on Saturday and learned a lot. My friends did fantastic on the swim part of the race. Now they love to swim in the ocean!.
I improved my time by almost 20 minutes over last year so I was pleased with my results.
This year our group rented a house a couple blocks from the beach. It made for a much more peaceful race day. Traffic can be intense this time of the year.
The other thing I am glad we did was not leave until Monday. We were back to our house around 10:00 am and got to enjoy the rest of the day at the beach.
