Swim
Comments: Wave started about 10:20. Feet were cold, should wear booties next time. Hands were OK. But I still couldn't get my face in the water, so did head up breaststroke and head up crawl most of the way. What would you do differently?: Practice in cold water so I can actually swim properly. Plus get used to swimming in the wetsuit. Transition 1
Comments: I took my time, didn't want to go into the bike too wet and my feet were still kind of numb. Also, put on long pants and shirt over my trisuit because the temperature was still probably only about 11-12 C. What would you do differently?: Just move a little faster. Don't think it was too bad. Bike
Comments: Pushed hard on the hills, I did go slower on the downhills than I could have, still a little scared of falling. I was still up over 40 km/h on the downhills. But this was my best race pace ever! What would you do differently?: Practice practice practice so I am not scared of the hills! Transition 2
Comments: Given that I changed my shirt, I think this was a very quick T2 for me. Was very happy about it. Run
Comments: This was my best run in a race ever. I did a sub 8 minute km after the swim and bike. Shave 3.5 minutes off my 5 km from June. I'm very happy with this. I did it all in my Merrell Barefoot shoes, kept a high cadence when running, and did 2 min. run / 1 min. walk segments. What would you do differently?: Nothing for this race. This went better than expected. Post race
Warm down: Stretch a little. Eat lunch :) What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough training over the summer. Need to work that out for next year! Event comments: Beautiful surroundings, very well organized. Very enjoyable. Best post-race food ever! Last updated: 2011-01-27 12:00 AM

Awake 6:30, shower, breakfast at hotel of bacon, ham, oranges and grapefruit, coffee and water, bowl of rice krispies with sugar. Packed up remaining bags from night before, moved my car, into T2 to deposit run stuff about 7:40. Found Mitch, on Shuttle about 8 am.
At T1, chipped and marked, organized transition area, then hung out chatting by the lake for 1 hour. Bathroom break, then got into wetsuit at about 9:30, ready for wave start at approximately 10:13.
