Swim
Comments: I think the swim may have been a little longer than last year just from looking at it, I may be wrong though. I was expecting a better time though especially since I've done a lot more swimming this year. What would you do differently?: Nothing really, I had a pretty good swim and navigation was much better than usual. Transition 1
Comments: I cut some of the ankles off my wetsuit and that worked wonders! It pretty much came off of my feet with very little effort. I would have had a better transition but I completely forgot to keep my cycling shoes unstrapped and didn't realize it until I started pedaling. What would you do differently?: Unstrap shoes during transition setup. Bike
Comments: A little hilly for me coming from Chicago, but I expected it since I did the race last year. The bike segment was altogether uneventful, I passed a few and got passed a bunch! Looking at the results I'm still really bad on the bike compared to swim and run. Two things that slowed me down were not leaving my shoes unstrapped for T1 and then around the last half mile or so it got a little bunched up and I probably would have gotten some kind of penalty trying to pass people at that time so I just kept my place. What would you do differently?: Train for the bike more...a lot more! Transition 2
Comments: I had a good T2 especially since I knocked :20 off from last year! What would you do differently?: Just gotta work on going a little faster! Run
Comments: Grassy in the beginning that had a small uphill section that I thought was brutal coming off the bike. I was so winded at that point as I was passing the first guy ahead of me he turned toward me and said "Wow! You're noisy!" We both kinda laughed at it and I continued on hoping I can keep that pace since I definitely don't wanna get passed by that guy! Once again though, it wasn't completely flat as I'm used to but I had a decent run that I'm happy about. I didn't stop this time as I did last year and actually had a little kick toward the finish. Post race
Warm down: Nada! Just waited for my brother to finish. What limited your ability to perform faster: My training this year has been geared toward HIM distance and not speed. Also this was the fourth race in a little over 30 days so I'm sure I wasn't 100% Event comments: QC Tri is not a huge race but Eric Sarno, the race director, makes it seem like it with how well it's run. I've heard of more popular races that really suck but this one is a must do if you're in the area or are willing to drive to it. Awesome race! Last updated: 2011-01-28 12:00 AM

My brother and I packed everything during the evening before the race so we wouldn't have to bother with anything in the morning. Woke up at 4:30am, had a Clif Bar and some Accelerade, loaded up the car and headed out to the race site. We got there in good time and were able to get a good parking spot close to everything. We setup our transition area and put on our wetsuits.
Just some stretching and a little warmup about 20min before go time.
