Total Time = 55m 33s
Overall Rank = 54/62
Age Group = Women 31-40
Age Group Rank = 10/14
Pre-race routine:

Got there in plenty of time. Watched my cousin compete in the first wave. Chatted with a gal from my tri class who was in wave 3. (I was in wave 4.)
Event warmup:

Swam 100 yards slowly with flip turns.
Swim
  • 07m 2s
  • 400 yards
  • 01m 46s / 100 yards
Comments:

I had done flip turns in the warmup, but as soon as I started swimming the race I changed my mind. I decided I didn't want to give up the breathing. Also, I could get better at flip turns.

Overall, I'm happy with my swim, but would have been happier with 6:59 than 7:02. On the plus side, I was on pace to set a new personal best for 500 yards.
What would you do differently?:

Speed up a little sooner. Although I did sprint the last 25 yards, I could have started that with 50 to go.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

They didn't count transition times. Safety concerns running around the building and occasionally you had to wait to get on a bike or treadmill.

For TI I went to the locker room changed out of my suit and dried off (required). I put on my tri shorts, sleeveless bike jersey, and running shoes. I walked up to the cycling studio.
Bike
  • 23m 12s
  • 10 miles
  • 25.86 mile/hr
Comments:

I had never used one of these before. No way I could bike 10 miles in real life in much less than 40 minutes.
What would you do differently?:

Train more.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

I. got. off. the. bike. and. walked. very. slowly. up. the. ramp. to. the. cardio. room. Did a little stretching, too.
Run
  • 25m 19s
  • 2 miles
  • 12m 40s  min/mile
Comments:

I had never run on a treadmill before. Walked, yes. But never actually run. I did okay. Accidentally bumped the stop button once, but never fell off.

I had both my gel spacer thing between my toes and the pad under the joint. Nothing bothered me during the run. Of course, it never has hurt *while* I'm running. We'll see if I wake up crying at 2:00 A.M.

I started out jogging at 4.8 mph. I alternated with occasional short (0.1 mi) walks at 4.0 mph until 1 mile. (Backs of my calves were kinda crampy.) Settled in at 4.8 mph. At 1.5 miles I bumped it up to 5.0 mph and at 1.75 I added 0.1 mph every 0.05 miles. Near the end, I thought I could finish under 25:00 and punched it up over 6 mph. Wish I had sped up sooner.
What would you do differently?:

Do run training. This time, that just wasn't a good idea.

Yes, I know, talk to the doc some more about my toe. I will.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor pacing decisions.

Event comments:

I had a great time.

Having the transitions not count took a lot of pressure off. It also eliminated my best event. lol

From my results, it's obvious which sports I've been training. This makes me really, really want to work on my run...
