Run
Comments: Run was good. Started way back of the back, since the name of today's game was "slow and steady". Well, I started so far back in the pack (810 runners) that I spent the whole race passing people, which was kind of fun :) Walked just twice when I felt my heart rate climbing, probably about 2 min each walk. Felt steady on the pace, stretching my legs out and trying not to shuffle. Only downside was stomach was doing the "crampy/gurgly" thing again, which is starting to happen almost every run. It's super annoying. Can't figure it out!!! Also used the ipod shuffle with a great running mix. Fun. What would you do differently?: Maybe eat a bit more in the morning, but not enough to feel heavy? And possibly bring some of those chewables with me to settle down the tummy. Post race
Warm down: Really nothing!! Crossed the finish line, walked back to the start to get my fleece and headed home. What limited your ability to perform faster: What? Fastest pace by a long shot!! Event comments: The timing didn't come in quickly, and they had the clock turned away from the finish, so you couldn't see your time. Waited till 10pm to see the times on the website. got up about 7am, did a bunch of laundry...
started with a G2, had a cup of coffee and a blueberry muffin about 2 hours out.
Finished the G2 on the way to the race - got to race about 9am (1 hour before). Was really layered up - 32 degrees when I left the house! Picked up race bag, got set up, and used the port-a-potty :)
had never "warmed up" before a race, so decided to give it a shot! Jogged for around 8-9 mins, got back to start with about 20 min to start. Stretched for about 10 mins. with 10 mins to go, I realized I needed to potty again, so sprinted back to the potties. Took fleece off before we started the race, last minute.
