Run
Comments: I had planned on this being a nice easy run. I was going to try and run 8 min pace and see how th eelevation and hills treated me. By mile 3, going uphill was hard on the breathing and it took forever to catch my breath again. I decided then to just run an easy pace, I wasn't trying to set any records or qualify for Boston. I kept a pretty even pace the whole way out. Even coming back in I was pretty steady, if a little bit slower. The last mile was straight up hill and it hurt. Nobody passed me after the turn around which I was pleased with, and I probably passed 10 people in the second half. It was a VERY tough course. What would you do differently?: nothing. This is a hard course, and I had no intentions of hurting myself trying to go fast. I just wanted a nice easy long run. It ended up being a nice, fairly comfortable long run on a beautiful course. Post race
Warm down: walked around the finishs area, ate a bit, hobbled back to the car What limited your ability to perform faster: hills and elevation are a tough combo Event comments: This was a very nice small race. The course was beautiful, but HARD. I was 30 min slower than my usual marathon time. Organization was great. Plenty of Aid stations with hater, Heed, fruit, and gels at most of them. Fun post race party. Very good destination marathon. A nice pleasant relaxing resort town, 100 miles from the Grand Canyon. I would highly recommend it. Last updated: 2011-01-31 12:00 AM
