![]() Swim
Comments: This was my weakest leg by far. The first half or so seemed to go ok, but the second half was really hard. Several cramps slowed me down big time on the second half. I really need to learn to swim better for next time. I think I outran my fitness level on this. What would you do differently?: Learn to swim? I had been practicing in the ocean for a few week, but that was clearly not enough. ![]() Transition 1
Comments: Went ok, a little winded from the swim, but still a clear head. Easy to find your bike when you're the last out of the water. ![]() Bike
Comments: Felt great on the bike. I was shooting for 1:30 bike split, so I'm happy. My strongest leg of race by far, really felt the training coming through. What would you do differently?: Ride a bit more on the drops. ![]() Transition 2
Comments: No big issues here, good enough for me. ![]() Run
Comments: The bridge at mile 1 is really tough at this stage. It's even worse coming back at mile 5. It was cool, so that helped quite a bit. In general I felt ok, given the level of effort. I gave all that I had left on the last 200 meters. Did not throw up, so maybe there was a bit more left. ![]() Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: The swim. I need to get off my bike and swim more / better. Plain and simple. Event comments: My fist Olympic distance !! Last updated: 2011-02-02 12:00 AM

Got something to eat, then headed down to set up my transition. Loved jumping off the boat before dawn, and swimming to island in the dark. Kind of crowded on the beach, but the torches and live music were a very cool detail.
A bit of stretching at the beach before the swim.
