Pre-race routine:

Got up at 6AM and had oatmeal and orange juice. Drank cytomax on the drive up.

Jogged from the starting area back to the car.

Comments:

The first two miles were very fast for me. I spent the next 2-3 miles trying to slow down into a steady pace that I would be able to maintain to the end. For the middle miles I felt pretty good and cruised in a steady pace for a while. Once I started on the single track along the river, I began to speed up to pass people in front of me.
Post race
Event comments:

I had a good race even though I was still getting over my cold and congestion from earlier in the week. I don't think I could have gone much further at that pace.

The race seemed well organized although the course could have been better marked in a few spots, which resulted in some people taking wrong turns.
