Comments:

I started out fine and was at 9:40 pace through the first 6 miles. But I started tiring & talked myself into just taking it easy on the way in instead of really pushing it. But my legs were pretty tired as the trails were taking a toll. Definitely see the value of trail running as overall fitness and not just run fitness. Also need to keep up the strength training & lose some extra weight.
What would you do differently?:

Not wimp out and gut this one to the end. My mind kept telling me that I needed not to hammer home b/c I didn't want to impact my training for the Palmetto Half. I should've told it to shut up and just run.

Warm down:

Stretching, water & banana.

Event comments:

Good race at a great venue. Schwag was very impressive considering the $25 entry fee: Salomon string bag, Smartwool socks, Patagonia tech-t, North Face ceramic travel coffee mug, & assorted goodies. I didn't fall (like several folks near me did) so that's always a good thing. I enjoy the trail running and will be back next year for this race.

Course: Twisting singletrack trails at Harbison. Reasonably technical w/ all the roots & rocks. Lots of rollers w/ a nasty hill in the back half. Great course that was actually 7.8 miles vs. the 7.46 a 12k is supposed to be. Guess I got more than I paid for! UPDATE: Race results list course as 7.9 miles. Who knows but that means I ran faster ... woo hoo!
