Swim
Comments: This was my first ever race swim. I have a few OWS under my belt now, but never in race conditions. Fortunately, the bumping was pretty minor and not as bad as I feared. Still, I'd have to say everything was "average" as I have nothing else to compare it to, other than a quiet OWS practice session....which actually was a bit quicker..but the distance might have been off. What would you do differently?: Be more consistent in my swimming vs. lookin' around trying to figure out what the heck was going on. Transition 1
Comments: Holy crow. The pouring rain turned transition into a 3" deep puddle of mud and water. My stuff was submerged. My rack neighbor tossed her stuff on top of mine. I have not mastered (or even attempted) leaving the shoes on the bike and running out of transition barefoot (and doing the run sock-less). What would you do differently?: Maybe learn how to ride and run sockless and save the time and aggravation. Bike
Comments: Biking is my strong suit. I'm most comfortable on the bike and that's the leg in which I excel. What would you do differently?: Maybe pushed those hills a little harder. Transition 2
Comments: Getting into running gear went okay. I resigned myself to being in wet, muddy, gritty socks. However, leaving transition, a mudpuddle sucked the shoe off my left foot, and I had to turn around and hop back for it. Lost time there. What would you do differently?: Keep my shoes on my feet? Run
Comments: Sooooo not a runner! And it shows. This is actually a PR for me for a race 5k. All things being relative, this was a good run for me. What would you do differently?: Not much. Just gotta keep telling myself "No walking. No walking. No walking." I can do it. I need to kick that lazy bum out of my head. Post race
Warm down: Not much. Stood in the pouring rain, waiting for friends to come in. What limited your ability to perform faster: It was my first ever tri. I'm not going to speculate. Event comments: Very well done, in spite of the horrendous weather conditions. First swim wave was delayed a half hour. That's not their fault. The organizers did a great job trying to keep the event going while ensuring a safe race. Last updated: 2011-02-11 12:00 AM

Stayed at a local hotel. Drank bad coffee, an over cooked hardboiled egg and a mini-muffin. The breakfast of champions! :) Loaded the bikes and gear into the truck and head over to the park to meet friends.
Did some lite workout in the hotel room before we checked out - the standard leg work to warm up my hips and knees. At the park, it was just moving to stay warm in the cool rain.
