Pre-race routine:

There was no routine to get into for this race. I rode my trainer for 1.5 hours before the race and ran 9 miles yesterday.
Event warmup:

I did the usual stretching and I did a slow warm up starting at about a 9 minute pace and ending with a 7:30 pace.

Comments:

I knew during my warm up that I wasn't going to PR this race. My legs were feeling more like jello than race legs and I just didn't feel very fresh. I started the race with Randy but he said he'd only hang with me for "20 feet." I don't think he was back with me for very long before I lost him, but I was in this to race and he wasn't offended that I bolted.
The first mile was tough, as they seemed to be for most of the speed races, until I got my HR back up to a racing HR. Once there I was able to settle in some and stay in a rhythm for the most part. My second mile I lost 10 seconds on my pace and I think it was more laziness and poor pain management than anything else. I think I just gave in to the pain too much, tried to catch a second wind and rolled with it some. I should have stayed closer to what I know I could have done and not slacked off and I would have felt better after finishing.
For the last 1.25 miles I stayed with a guy, or should I say he stayed with me, and with .25 left I kicked it up as much as I could and out kicked him. I thought of sticking with him and trying to help him get to the finish strong but I decided to go harder for myself....Kinda selfish!
What would you do differently?:

I knew this was not going to be a PR before the race started so I think I wasn't ready to knock anything down hard. Mentally I think I took myself out during my warm up and took it to easy on myself. I also know that, had I PR'd, it wouldn't have been a solid race. With the run yesterday and the bike today I wasn't feeling like a great race was going to happen. In the end I settled for personal mediocrity based on my training over the past 2 days.
Post race
Warm down:

Jogged and walked for about .25 miles while talking to another triathlete I met last year (Shane). Then as I saw Randy coming in I ran with him into the finish. He finished with a 25:50-ish time

What limited your ability to perform faster:

HUH! 2 days of training. Had I really been looking a solid PR at this distance I would have backed my run down yesterday and not ridden the bike prior to this race.

Event comments:

This was my first Fanny Freezer and I may continue to do these for a while. The entry fee being $5 makes it kind of silly not to run it. There were a lot of people there and many of them were families who ran/walked it together. One of these days I hope my girls will run a race with me. Now that Sis is running track maybe she will do one with me............I would love that!!!
I have given up, after a week of waiting, that there will be any official postings of this race. I have checked the FWTC web site nearly daily since the race and nothing about this race has been posted. There was another race posted that was the day after this race but nothing otherwise. I am dropping my rating for the race from a 4 to a 3 based on the poor timeliness of the result postings.
FINALLY! After 2 months I found the race results and changed this RR for accuracy.

Performance: Average
Course: The course was relatively flat with only a couple of small uphills and a small but longer downhill. The course was a 2 lap route that ran through Shoaff Park around the golf course. The course was all asphalt that had been cleared of the snow from the past few weeks. The trail that was used for the course was very narrow and wasn't particularly good for passing a lot of people. About a mile into the race, on the first lap, the trail turned into the entrance road and passing was much more friendly but by this time the pack had cleared out and it wasn't a problem anyway.
