Pre-race routine:

Had a huge italian pasta dinner and some ice cream the night before and could not go to the bathroom to save my life! Felt very full and even more so in the morning. Got a great sleep from about 10:30-5:45AM, had a handful of raisins and a handful of granola, a glass of water, and out the door.
Event warmup:

Got dropped off maybe .5mi from start line. Was freezing cold in singlet and tights before any sun came up but jogged slowly to corrals. Tried to use the bathroom again but failed. Warmed up in the corral and completely warm a mile in.

Comments:

Started out a bit slow in the first two miles and was getting passed left and right. Restrained myself and tried to listen to running the first 8 at an 8 mile or so pace and really save my energy and be strong at the end. I waited until the very back of my corral to go and ended up having a nice bit of space almost the whole time. Still was packed at a few spots but for the most part I felt pretty free.
What would you do differently?:

I should have taken a plastic bag or something to keep me warm in the corrals. I only had a nice fleece that i left with my support. Ideally I would have digested my food better and been able to go #2 at some point before the race. I tried not to freak about this and just ran my race despite having a pretty heavy stomach. I didn't end up going until like 12 hours later.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked maybe 20 minutes around/back to mile 12.5 where my support was to go cheer on more runners. Tried to do a brief jog/shuffle for maybe 5 or a few more minutes despite being VERY sore and built up acids in legs.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

It was my first race ever so being a freshman generally.

Event comments:

Think it was a good race overall with a nice course that was flat and fast. They advertised that they were going to have stations with GU solutions and only had one with most of it being cytomax which I never tried before and wasnt going to start mid race. I ran with a 4 bottle fuel belt which worked well because i had my own solution. Didnt finish it but depended on it when i needed it.
