Event warmup:

rode 1 mile from truck to packet pickup. I was going to do a 10-15 spin warmup, but found out there was not timing/official start. It was just a free for all, so I just decided I would warm up on the way.

Comments:

I did ok on hills, I would like to have done better, but I didn't stop. I did feel strong towards the end of the race. All in all, I am improving, getting much stronger/faster, and had a lot of fun testing myself.
What would you do differently?:

be better prepared for hills.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

no event timing, kind of took the drive out of me.

Event comments:

This is advertised as a race, but no timing is done at all. Kind of defeats the point. I really don't like paying to go on large group rides. It was supposed to be about seeing how competitive I can be in future races. As it is, I still don't know if I could race a tortoise or not.

I chose the 25 mile fat tire course. It was a pretty good course, except for a really washboard road at about the 1/3 mark. 3-4 miles of really hard riding on the bum. In all, not much of a fat tire course, you would be better suited with a CX setup. The closest thing we saw to dirt, was one very hard packed dirt road. Everything else was paved/gravel roads. Beautiful scenery, and a fun ride, but not the billing the promoters set this up for.
