Swim
Comments: Did SO SO SO much better than I had expected I would in the swim leg. I gave myself a goal of 10 minutes and to not freak out. And I met both. :) What would you do differently?: I sort of veered out of the buoy line toward the end. Just need to improve my sighting. Transition 1
Comments: Did pretty well apparently, as I was 33rd overall for T1. Not too shabby. Had all my gear laid out in order from the helmet on down. Even had a sip of water. What would you do differently?: Remember to get the helmet/sunglasses on first before putting the shoes on. Bike
Comments: The one downside to today was that my chainring decided to fall out of place about 100 feet from the dismount when I tried to shift into the little chainring to spin. My shifters SUCK! In turn, it made me fall off (but gently, i didn't get run over or hurt). I tried to fix it, but said screw it and ran it in. Recovered pretty well. What would you do differently?: Be more forceful with my shifters. They work, but take a lot of effort. I might just upgrade them or the bike. Haven't decided. Transition 2
Comments: Nearly ran out without my race belt. Luckily my friend (who was a transition volunteer (saw me and reminded me!). Other than that, not too bad. Due to my bike mishap, my legs got an early warmup to the run. What would you do differently?: Be more mindful of what I need to do/put on for T2. Run
Comments: I started off slowly, probably because of the EXTRA run I got in before transition. And I generally start slower. I was able to pick up the pace about 1/4 of the way through and stayed consistent to the end. I wanted to walk, but told myself to just keep going. Post race
Warm down: Greeted my friends and coworkers who were there to see me at the finish line! And then to the beer tent! Also ate some oranges and picked up snacks. :D What limited your ability to perform faster: The bike incident. But i'm over it. Not sure how much it may have impacted my time. Maybe a minute. It may have also helped me go faster than I would've in transition had I not spilled. Who knows, who cares. :) Event comments: Very well organized and inclusive of all athletes. Lots of motivation from the volunteers/peers, and a safe course to "tri" something new. I'm no longer a Rookie! Last updated: 2011-02-21 12:00 AM

Had cereal and coffee, then headed over early to get a primo spot for my bike.
Did some leg/arm stretches, a plank to warm up my core, a little jog, and squats to keep my calves warm. It was really cold in the morning!
