Comments:

I guess my nerves got to me and I almost quit after the first 200 yds. I dug deep inside and decided even if it took me an hour to complete the swim I would finish! It was really rough and I kept swallowing alot of water, couldn't get a rhythm going with freestyle or breaststroke so on my back I went. Did most of it backstroke, but at least I finished and didn't give up. I didn't hold on to the lifeguards just kept going, but they did give me words of encouragement which I graciously thanked them for!!!!!
What would you do differently?:

Practice running in and swimming out against the waves. I have only done 3 prior OW training swims on the gulf coast but the east coast IS a different beast! The training swims were swum along the shore.
