Total Time = 1h 27m 3s
Overall Rank = 94/124
Age Group = novice
Age Group Rank = 11/15
Pre-race routine:

Nice sleep in due to 11a start. Oatmeal and fruit for breakfast, water and energy bar 45 to start.
Event warmup:

very light swim, four laps, RTC exercises
Swim
  • 10m 51s
  • 328 yards
  • 03m 19s / 100 yards
Comments:

Weakest discipline and was happy to have finished without stopoing and freestyle swim, no breast stroke like the first indoor tri. Much better form and controlled breathing well. Had a rythm from beginning to end and didnt let my surroundings dictate my pace.
What would you do differently?:

train more, practice, practice, practice. Did'nt like how some people used snorkels. I just think its cheating but big props to those that did the military dolphin crawl/sidestroke. Looked hard :)
Transition 1
  • 01m 59s
Comments:

Long run from pool to transition. Added time to my pool swim. Dried my feet off, put on vibrams five fingers on, quick gulp of water, put my gear on and off on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, I meant to take some time to drink and stretch.
Bike
  • 46m 52s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 15.87 mile/hr
Comments:

Considering this was my first and wasnt able to get my computer set up in time, I went by feel. Passing people felt great especially since I am riding a single speed bike.
What would you do differently?:

Need to upgrade to speeds. Need computer. This was planned but I couldve placed as a novice otherwise and never, never dropping my fluids again lol!
Transition 2
  • 00m 37s
Comments:

Grabbed a full bottle of water and downed it and started right off with a bottle of gatorade in hand.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, quick and fast.
Run
  • 26m 42s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 37s  min/mile
Comments:

My last run event was in June. Have lost tons of weight since then and had never TT myself since. Not only was this a PR for me at 5k, it was during a triathlon and considering the situation, shouldve done much better. I love it!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, couldnt help the cramps but rode it out to the end.
Post race
Warm down:

Cramped at the end so no warm down, stretch, coke, and cookies to get a quick jolt. The gatorade had just started to level me off but was to late.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Hydration mistake on the bike. Maybe a camelback so If I drop something I go with it?

Event comments:

Had a blast! Met some cool people. Ill post pics so Maybe I can make connections with these people on here. I am hooked!!!

Course: Loved this segment. I usually focus on hydration here but this is where my first rookie mistake occurred. I completely missed the bottle holder after just one sip. Dropped it and never looked back. No fluids on the bike except a little water. Ouch!!!

Course: Now I have to keep in perspective that I was cramping as soon as I started running. Also the headwind kinda killed the legs just a bit. nice two lap course that went by the finish for a nice teaser seeing the earlier starts coming in. Overcast and great organization. Awesome volunteers. If the heat was up, I think my time wouldve been slower and cramps wouldve done me in.
