Pre-race routine:

Early wake up, breakfast, pack car, drive for a long time...
Event warmup:

Bit of a jog & swim. Nothing major.
Swim
  • 11m 56s
  • 500 meters
  • 02m 23s / 100 meters
Comments:

Basically, the uber calmness of Elwood was the total opposite to last time and this contributed to a super quick swim for me. Garmin in swim cap was excellent. I have found a way to secure it to my pony tail and keep it the right way up so I hit the correct buttons.
What would you do differently?:

Absolutely nothing. It was perfect. Loved it.
Transition 1
  • 02m 40s
Comments:

Okay, so I put my shoes and helmet on at the same time after the wettie was off. I use the time when getting my wettie off as a breather. I am excited that it was under the 3 minutes considering how far I had to run to get to my bike - I was in the last possible row, LOL.
What would you do differently?:

I don't know. Honestly, it went really smooth.
Bike
  • 39m 53s
  • 20 kms
  • 30.09 km/hr
Comments:

I felt like I flew along and seeing my average speed, I see that I really kinda did (for me). I enjoyed this ride. I felt like I took the U-turns very smoothly and accelerated out of them really well.Used my gears most effectively.
What would you do differently?:

Again, not sure. I just wish I knew how to get my speed up even higher. I did ride hard though, gave my legs a bit of a schlacking. Maybe too much.
Transition 2
  • 02m 14s
Comments:

Quick. In & out. No real fuss.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Honestly, if I'm going to get quicker in these races, it won't be in the transitions!
Run
  • 26m 11s
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 14s  min/km
Comments:

First 2k's were quite quick (sub 5min/km). Km 3 & 4 I struggled. It was quite warm by then. Km 5 I just ran to the finish line like there was no tomorrow, hehe.
What would you do differently?:

Not ride so hard?
Post race
Warm down:

Walking, walking.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Not a lot really. Maybe my own fitness. I still can improve on that.

Event comments:

Edited - organisers fixed the initial wrong swim time, so all is well. I had a great day and an excellent race. I want to get faster, just not entirely sure how, LOL!
