Comments: First 6 mile loop wasn't too bad. Wind resistance made it very difficult. Had done most of long runs for the year indoors on a treadmill so I didn't feel like I was really prepared for this outdoor run so early in the year. What would you do differently?: Forgot my fuel belt in the car. Huge mistake as there were not nearly enough water stops on the 6 mile loop. Really felt dehydrated toward the end of the run. Will definetly carry my own hydration with me next time. Post race
Warm down: Light stretching followed by some post race food at the awards ceremony. What limited your ability to perform faster: Without a doubt the wind. The wind was absolutely killer at this race. Also didn't adequetly hydrate. Event comments: Not sure if I will do this race again next year. Its nice that it is early on in the year, but just not sure if the location is favorable given the fact that the course is out in the country and there is no protection from the wind. Also did not feel that 2 water stops on a 6 mile loop is enough for a half marathon distance race. Made a huge mistake by forgetting my fuel belt in the car. Race didn't start until noon so was able to eat full breakfast and a light pre-race meal. Got there early so I was able to do a short warm up run and some light stretching as well.
