Swim
Comments: I'm getting confused why I can't do any better on my swimming. I try hard to concentrate, but it always seems like I get lost, and can't see very well, always ending up swimming too much to the sides, usually to get around people. I need to try to start at the front one of these times instead of treading through water behind other people. What would you do differently?: Start at the front of the swim group. Transition 1
Comments: This T1 went a LOT better than the race in Effingham 3 weekends ago. I didn't need to use shoe covers, so I'm thinking that was the issue at that race. I was able to use my clipped in shoes without any issues. What would you do differently?: Not much, I'm pretty happy with this one, maybe just try to be quicker? Bike
Comments: I feel like I could have pushed a little harder on this one, but knew it was going to be hot on the run. What would you do differently?: Bring water & push harder. Transition 2
Comments: Not too happy with this one. I forgot that I had to rack my bike on the rear of the seat, took me a few seconds to figure that one out. Had trouble getting my shoes on because of sweaty feet... could have sworn I was ok with this by now. What would you do differently?: Be prepared to get shoes on with sweaty feet. Run
Comments: I overheated, and was pretty close badly dehydrating. Dumped water on me at every aid station. I'm still happy though with how I did, especially since I've been having some bad sciatica this past week. I lost 3rd place about half a mile from the finish line. Didn't have what it took to take 3rd back, he was running too fast (6:xx, I was running 7:3x). Good job to him! I did the same thing he did to me to another guy, passed him up slowly around mile 2 and started trying to run faster to leave him behind. What would you do differently?: Drink more water, push harder. Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster: Not bringing water on the bike. Sciatica. Not prepared to put shoes on with sweaty feet. Event comments: Very nice & well put together race. I'll be there next year!! Last updated: 2011-02-26 12:00 AM

Woke up nice and early. Got good sleep because I wasn't expecting a good race for me, so I wasn't too nervous about it. Went to the crapper still a lot though, no idea how the body knows to excrete what it needs to. Woke up with worse sciatica than whole week (started 7 days prior to race). Calves weren't too sore, which was another thing I was worried about.
Got some swimming in the lake. A little chilly at first, but felt great after a minute or so.
