Pre-race routine:

Messed up big time here. Tried a liquid breakfast of whey, PB, bananas, choc milk in the blender.

Seemed okay at the time but I about spewed on the run. Going to stick with solids next time.
Event warmup:

No real warmup to speak of. Jumped around a bit to get the blood flowing.
Swim
  • 00m
  • 1300 yards
  • / 100 yards
Comments:

Swim was cancelled due to high seas and wind. Buoys wouldn't stay in place and wind was sending everything right into the rocky shore. RD waited 45 minutes after the race was supposed to start then decided to cancel.

Ended up just running up the boat ramp to T1 and going from there.

Didn't really hurt my feelings that they cancelled the run, it was ugly out there.
Transition 1
  • 01m 49s
Comments:

Haven't ever worked on being fast at transitions. Will work on this for the upcoming sprint. Going to work on going sockless as well as having shoes already on the bike.
Bike
  • 49m 31s
  • 18.6 miles
  • 22.54 mile/hr
Comments:

My seat decided it needed to come loose halfway through the ride. The nose steadily went down until it was essentially worthless for the last 5 miles.

Not too big a deal but did shorten my pedal stroke quite a bit and put more pressure on the legs to hold me up.
Transition 2
  • 01m 23s
Comments:

Need to figure out something else with my running shoes. I was concerned about having them tight enough to prevent blisters. That made it hard to get them on in T2, had to sit down to get them on and tied which isn't exactly fast.
Run
  • 44m 44s
  • 5.2 miles
  • 08m 36s  min/mile
Comments:

First tri where I didn't walk at all. Not a big accomplishment to some but I felt good that the time I have been putting in to running paid off.

I didn't feel like I had my legs under me until about 2 miles in but it wasn't too bad after that.

I got behind on my water consumption on the bike as I didn't want to slow down to drink. I was pretty thirsty when I started the run.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more on the bike. Going to mount a bottle between my bars so I can drink in aero. It slows me down too much to grab a bottle from the X-Lab.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Bike training time. Still working on my run game, it is miles better than last year but I still have a long way to go.

Weight is coming down and is much less than last year. Could still stand to lose another 15 to 20 which would help with the run.

Event comments:

Good race, not too bad a price. Will prob do this race again next year.
